PURPOSE STATEMENT: Roots Bible U. is a spiritual formation school designed to help followers of Jesus Christ understand and develop a growing, fruitful walk with Christ. Bible teaching and application, prayer, and developing faith-filled friendships are at the core of this process. Special emphasis is placed upon understanding the message of the entire Bible and how each part of the Bible teaches God's plan for the world and for every individual. This knowledge and understanding is then applied to real life with each student.
ROOTS BIBLE U. GOAL: That every student will understand Bible basics and be set on a course of lifelong fruitful discipleship, resulting in the blessings of maturity in Christ.
TEACHERS AND FACILITATORS: All Roots teachers and class facilitators are devoted followers of Christ who understand and teach the Bible as the final authority for life, and application of the Bible as the mark of true discipleship.
ROOTS BIBLE U. COURSES: Roots starts with a two-year "Get a Handle on the Bible" core curriculum. This includes: How to become a follower of Christ - Salvation, Old and New Testament Overviews, The Life of Christ, Spiritual Formation, Basic Christian Teachings, Basic Apologetics, The Start of the Church - The Book of Acts, Church History, Serving Christ with your Gifts and Talents, Understanding the Mission of the Church. The school will also offer courses in two other tracks: Bible book and doctrine courses, and, specialty subject and support courses.
ROOTS BIBLE U. STUDENTS: Anyone who seeks more knowledge and understanding about following Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible, is welcome at Roots. Students are asked to commit to attend every class for which they register and complete out-of-class assignments as diligently as possible. It is understood that 100% class attendance is not always possible. Roots operates on the same principle as following Christ - you can't get much out of it, if you don't put much into it. It is not necessary to be a member or attendee of Capital Area Christian Church to attend Roots.
CHILDCARE: Roots will offer childcare for all regularly scheduled courses. Childcare will be available at the cost of $5/week, regardless of the number of children you bring. Please note that childcare fees must be pre-paid according to the number of weeks of the class for which you register.
FEES: Roots courses are offered as a ministry of Capital Area Christian Church. It is our desire to keep student costs to a minimum. Students may be expected to purchase course books and pay a minimal fee for childcare. Any student who does not have the ability to pay will receive assistance from the church.
